Meet RJ! RJ came to us in 2017 when he was only 5 years old. He has what’s called a Chopart amputation. This means he still has his calcaneus bone (heel) intact! RJ’s amputation was caused by a lawnmower accident – did you know that lawnmower accidents are the leading cause of childhood amputation in the USA? Each year, 800 children are involved in a lawnmower accident, and 600 of these result in amputation. But RJ has not let this slow him down! He has finally grown tall enough to have a running leg! RJ loves to play sports, and this leg will help him achieve his goals. We are so proud of RJ, and can’t wait to continue to watch him on his journey.
